Health Issues in Saints

Saints are prone to several health issues including hip dysplasia, eye issues, certain cancers, bloat/GDV , Larpar, DM and epilepsy to include a few. Not all of these things can be tested for or eliminated. Orthopedic issues in this breed are heavily influenced by both genetics AND environment. If you're thinking of adding a Saint to your family, please learn about the issues that can arise in this breed.

Saints should be good natured. It's a Hallmark of the breed. Genetics play a large part but training is equally important; Saints require training and exposure early on. They get big very quick and require an owner dedicated to training, socializing and being a strong leader. Saints can be stubborn, especially as "teenagers'. Establishing boundaries and realizing that proper training is a vital part of your pups development goes a very long way. We require a training class be taken per our contract and are always available for training help for the life of our puppies. No matter what. We are very selective with our placements. We do not place puppies based on markings or coat type.We place dependent on where we think each individual puppy will thrive  based on personality and the environment it will be living in. Our puppies undergo a Puppy Volhard Test at 7 weeks. The results of the test weigh heavily in which homes our puppies go to.
